Although as many as one in five near-death experiences reported over thirty years were perceived as disturbing, even cosmically terrifying, the literature of near-death studies contains almost no information about them. This presentation offers essential data about distressing NDEs and the people who report them. Therapists and spiritual directors, as well as experiencers, face substantial challenges when dealing with them and their enduring power. This session includes illustrations of the basic types of dNDE, common interpretations, and issues important to professional care givers.
