Aftereffects of Near-Death Experiences

Abstract

Approximately one third of individuals who have come close to death have reported incidents of Near-Death Experiences (NDEs). This number makes up 5% of the United States population. During an NDE, individuals have reported a set of psychological and paranormal experiences. After an NDE, many have reported a change in the quality of their lives and some have reported deep spiritual transformation. Even though many of these aftereffects can have a positive effect on one’s life, the lack of knowledge about the NDEs and their aftereffects by NDErs themselves and their family and friends have been a source of stress for many. Gaining knowledge and understanding about these aftereffects will allow general public and professionals help NDErs cope with new changes in their lives as a result of their NDE and connect with proper resources.
