P. M. H. Atwater, is one of the original researchers in the field of near-death studies, having begun her work on 1978. She has written ten books on her findings, the last one due out January 2011 from Hampton Roads, a final wrap-up of her work and the completion of her theoretical model, “Brain Shift/Spirit Shift.” Some of her findings have been verified in clinical studies, among them the prospective study done in Holland and published in Lancet medical journal, 12-15-01. Her, The Big Book of Near-Death Experiences, brings the field up-to-date and was featured in the online version of Newsweek Magazine. Recognized with “Outstanding Service Award” from International Association For Near-Death Studies, and “Lifetime Achievement Award” from National Association of Transpersonal Hypnotherapists, Dr. Atwater is also a generational researcher and has examined evolutionary changes in the human family (refer to Beyond the Indigo Children and its sequel). A three-time experiencer of near-death states, she is also a rune caster, astrologer, numerologist, prayer chaplain, wife, mother, grandmother.
